Summer And Monsoon Skin And Hair Care :)

Monsoon Skin and Hair Tips.

Hi Girls,
Summers are quite harsh on the skin and monsoons can be challenging too. Every time the monsoon arrives, our skin seems to have a mind of its own. It gets oily, dehydrated or even acne prone, owing to this we have to change our skin care regime accordingly.
Remember these tips to keep your hair and skin happy through the monsoons.
  • Exfoliate-Damp and humid weather can often lead to tons of infections, keep your skin clean and exfoliate twice a week to remove dead cells and to keep your pores clean. For those who have sensitive skin, use a mask instead of exfoliator. If you have oily skin, you can use the Oriflame Pure Skin Deep Action Exfoliator.
  • Hydrate-Keep your skin hydrated, with maximizing your water intake. Also use water based moisturizers, apart from toners and glycerin to support it. Avoid alcohol-based products which may dehydrate your skin.
  • Cleanse-Wash your skin often with a mild face wash. Using tea tree based products for oily and combination skin in monsoon will control excess oil from settling onto your skin. Alternatively, you can prepare a face mask using chick -pea flour (also known as besan) and milk, lemon and honey, to refresh your skin.

Hair Care
  • During the monsoons, wash your hair every alternate day to protect it from dirt and impurities. Wash using a lemon based shampoo and conditioner as it acts as a disinfectant.
  • Remember to not let your hair get wet in the rain. In case it does, wash later with a mild shampoo to avoid dandruff.
  • Opt for tied or short hairstyles to keep dirt and infection away.
  • If your hair becomes tangled and unmanageable, treat it with hot coconut oil. It deeply penetrates into the root and nourishes the hair from root to tip. Or wear a hydrating mask after shampoo. One can also leave it overnight, cover it with a towel or shower cap.
  • For frizzy hair, apply serum to the length of the hair avoiding the roots.
  • Stay away from chemical/alcohol based products, which will only make your hair rough and uncomfortable. If your hair becomes dry, try a deep conditioning hair mask or hot oil treatment. This needs to be completely rinsed off after keeping for 15-20 minutes.
  • Remember to apply a hair mask once in 15 days to reverse the damage caused due to humidity.
  • Vitamins and iron play an important role in hair nourishment. Include lots of fruits and vegetables in your diet for healthy hair. An overall balanced diet of calcium, protein, and minerals is a must for your skin and hair care regime.
